Although I have shared a lot of photos on my Instagram from my Vision Expo West experience this past September, I wanted to also write a blog post to share more photos and details from my trip. This was my first time in Vegas and I wanted to make the most of everything that the city and the convention had to offer. If you’re interested in seeing my entire trip from start to finish, read on!
I travelled from New Brunswick to Toronto and met up with my brother when I landed. We had a quick dinner and fell asleep early in order to catch our morning flight to Vegas the following day. The flights were long, but it was awesome traveling with him because we don’t get to see each other very often. We had a lot of laughs, a in-flight meal and snacks, which definitely helped distract us from the hours in the air.
It wasn’t hard to tell that we were getting closer to Vegas-the landscape drastically changed as we entered the dry climate.
Seeing slot machines in the airport when we arrived was something I had never seen in a airport before. We made it!
After grabbing our checked bags, we waited in a long cab line to take us to our hotel. The line moved surprisingly quickly and we were checking out all Tuscany Suites and Casinos had to offer within two hours of landing.
The scenery at this hotel was beautiful. It felt like a resort down south!
The hotel cafe (Cafe Bottega) was such a blessing to have so close to our room. I am a huge smoothie person and they had a few different flavours to choose from (the green smoothie and the mango were top picks). They also had amazing lunch options like pizza and grilled cheese, all for reasonable prices.
The pool and hot tub were also incredible!
Our first night out in Vegas was memorable one. The city really comes alive at night. From the flashing neon signs to the Bellagio fountains, this place is unlike any other.
The following day was the first day of the Expo. It was really cool to experience it in Vegas at the Sands convention center after attending twice in NYC. It always amazes me how huge of a event this is; so many brands, people, and thousands of pairs of glasses in one building. It really is a eyewear lover’s paradise.
Here are just some of the amazing glasses that I was eyeing:
How do you even choose a pair? I am always overwhelmed with inspiration while walking through the expo.
VEW also collaborated with Sephora and my friend Glamoptometrist to bring mini makeovers to the show floor. For obvious reasons, I thought that this was the coolest thing and couldn’t wait to meet the Sephora girls. They were so sweet and really know their stuff when it comes to makeup tips!
Making people feel beautiful while wearing glasses is something that I’m always going to be passionate about. I’m so happy that VEW, Sephora and Arian took the time and effort to make this happen in Vegas this year, and so humbled that I could be a part of it.
After a full day at the expo, my brother and I grabbed some drinks and headed back to the hotel to get ready for the evening.
This night was so much fun! I attended a party at the High Roller Observation Wheel at the Linq hotel with VEW and other eyewear influencers. This was definitely one of the coolest events I’ve ever been to. It was amazing to connect with people who are killing it on social media, plus the views of Vegas were spectacular! 😉
The night was finished off with a big casino win of 15 cents!
This was only the beginning of my treats for the day. I attended the Eyestyle Influencer Lunch at La Cave Food and Wine Hideaway at the Wynn Las Vegas.
This hotel was absolutely stunning! The decor and food at the lunch did not disappoint either. There were even cookies shaped like glasses and a cute photo backdrop for all of us to take some instgram pictures.
Without a doubt, my favourite part of the day was the lunch panel discussion. It was so interesting and inspiring to hear different perspectives regarding how to be successful on social media. Every one of these individuals bring something unique to the industry and I couldn’t have been more honoured to listen to their experiences and advice.
After the lunch and panel, we went outside to look at some beautiful frames to finish off the afternoon. It was such a lovely surprise to learn that Marchon Eyewear was willing to gift us some glasses and sunnies. I have just received mine in the mail this week and am very excited to do some looks with them very soon!
After lunch, we headed back to the Sands for Day 2 of the expo for more browsing and networking. I was able to meet Brian from Glen Lane who I had worked with in the past, but had never met face to face. I also met with Phyllis from Clear Vision Optical to take a tour of their booth and check out their customizable frames.
The Transition panel was also a highlight of the day.
That evening my brother and I were very excited to eat at the Hell’s Kitchen restaurant. We have watched Gordon Ramsay’s show for years and when we finally had the chance to make a reservation at one of his famous restuarants we just couldn’t pass it up.
The food was absolutely incredible! I especially recommend the vegan risotto and the mac and cheese.
My final day at the expo was filled with more roaming and glasses perusing at Sands.
Finally, the day was capped off with more mimosas and pizza at Flour and Barley.
Thank you so much to Vision Expo and to everyone else who helped make these few days come together as amazingly as they did. I also want to thank all of the lovely people that I was able to meet in person. Everyone was so sweet! This tripped sparked so many lasting connections that I am incredibly grateful for, and likely wouldn’t have experienced without this amazing opportunity to travel to Vegas with VEW. Thanks to all of you, and to those of you taking the time to read this. ❤
My first Vegas trip will never be forgotten!
