Hi guys!
This past weekend was a crazy one to say the least. I had the opportunity to visit NYC to attend Vision Expo East! If you have no idea what I’m talking about and you are into glasses, let me enlighten you.
This expo is everything a glasses wearer/lover could ever dream of when it comes to unique frames, eye accessories and technology. The expo was held at the Javits center, which is a massive venue that housed countless booths over the weekend.
I won’t lie, it was my first time in NYC and I was a little overwhelmed at the fast paced atmosphere that the city was giving off at every turn. One step outside of the hotel and I was immediately surrounded by people and the sounds of sirens and car honks. Those of you who live in NYC are probably laughing and shaking your head, because that is the norm there. Regardless, it took me a little time to warm up to the city but once I did I can truly see why it is such a iconic place. With everyone always on the move with somewhere to be, it really inspired me to pursue my goals a little bit harder.
On Thursday morning I attended the trends presentation and a eyewear designer meet and greet at the Crowne Plaza. I don’t know if it was the excitement of this being my first ever influencer event that I have attended, but it was one of my favorite parts of the entire trip. I took in all of the details on what the hottest up and coming spring eyewear trends consist of-everything from colors (some of my favorites include electric orchid, powder blue and ombre), materials (I love the look of iridescents and matte metals), and shapes (the contemporary cat eye and double bridge were the two that I was most excited about).
After that we had the opportunity to speak with an array of designer eyewear brands. It was the first time where I had interacted face to face with any brands, and everyone was so sweet and knowledgeable. The brands who were at this event are as follows:
Once I had officially adjusted to the NYC lifestyle by Friday, I was hit with another dose of overwhelm when I went to the Javits center that morning. The place was huge, with so many booths and people to speak too and glasses to try on that I could never do it all in the three days that I had there.
Once I settled in and accepted that I likely could not speak to everyone there, I started slow and spent a little bit of time talking to a few brands whom were all lovely. One of my favorites, Lerocher New York, has some gorgeous spring glasses that I had to take a photo of. The Lerocher girls were so sweet and I’m so happy that I got to talk to them about all of their cute new frames.
That Friday was also full of eyewear fashion shows that featured colors, shapes, details, lenses, and beautiful models.
The rest of my day was spent walking around and speaking with different brands and meeting up with some IG friends. Overall, a very successful first day of expo-ing 🙂
I was much more prepared for the second day of the expo now that I knew the layout and how to navigate the booths. I had a blast checking out some really unique glasses and talking with a ton of passionate brands.
At 1pm at the Tura booth, Kate Young (celebrity stylist and who also has her own line of eyewear with Tura) hosted a instagram live where she helped some attendees find their perfect pair of glasses.
I also attended a talk where CoCo and Breezy discussed marketing to millennials through social media and brand transparency. They were spot on!
After the expo was over for the day, a shampoo & style along with some wine and good food at IL Punto Ristorante was the perfect Saturday night.

Sunday at the expo was filled with more glasses ogling and chatting with brands about their designs.
I also attended another talk by CoCo and Breezy. This time they discussed their design process, and all of the creativity and hard work that goes into making eyewear.

Overall, my Vision Expo experience and my first trip to NYC is something that I will never forget. I am so grateful for the opportunity to attend such a huge event in the eyewear industry.
A massive thank you to the vision council for inviting me, my brother for coming on the trip with me, my parents who encouraged me to go, and to you reading this post! ❤
Oooh girl I loved reading this!!! I need some new frames, I always like to have a few pairs on rotation. I just checked out the Coco and Breezy site, their Jolly Rancher collection…. LOVE! I will for sure be looking in to more of these brands 🙂 xoxox
